The work.

Two District 7 projects. 07-350314 installs 18 Type 1 changeable message signs, with fiber and traffic census station work, across Los Angeles and Ventura counties. 07-350334 installs 24 changeable message signs in Los Angeles County (23 Type 1 and one CMS 710C), plus fiber. Together that is 42 CMS units. The work replaces obsolete amber signs with color LED signs. Corridors include I-5, US 101, SR 23, SR 33, SR 126, I-210, SR 118, I-405, SR 170, SR 138, and SR 14. Day and night shifts, with lane closures timed to limit impact on traffic.

The benefit.

Drivers on those freeways get color LED signs in place of the old amber boards. The new signs can show clearer graphics, plus real-time incident, congestion, and travel information, so drivers can choose a safer path. Night work is there so the community is not sitting in daytime closures while the signs go in.
